An indoor rabbit setup needs to be planned as a living area rather than a cage with accessories. Start with the available continuous floor space and the household’s movements before ordering a pen advertised by the number of panels.
Draw the footprint with the furniture included
Mark the proposed boundary on the floor and add the actual footprints of essential supplies. Walk around the room with chairs pulled out and cupboard doors open. The remaining space should still let you reach the rabbits, clean comfortably, and move through the home. Keep the enclosure away from inappropriate heat, drafts, and household hazards.

Check the maker’s species and installation guidance rather than assuming a generic exercise pen is suitable because rabbits appear in a listing photograph. Inspect every joining point from the animals’ side.
A door you can walk through may be more convenient than climbing over panels several times a day. Check whether it closes securely and whether its threshold creates a cleaning obstacle. Tall furniture close to a boundary can provide an unintended route out. Plan the arrangement as a whole, including adjacent objects, before deciding that the pen’s advertised height settles containment.
Buy flooring for grip and daily maintenance
Measure the floor covering separately from the panels. It must protect the underlying surface while remaining suitable for the rabbits and easy to inspect. Exposed edges invite attention, so think about how they will be positioned and checked. Follow material guidance and remove anything being damaged or ingested. Avoid wire flooring.
Choose a layout where wet areas can be cleaned without dismantling the whole room. Washable resting layers may be useful in appropriate locations, but laundry and drying require a plan. A spare layer can keep the routine moving while one is washed. Compare the real usable dimensions after edging, supports, and protective barriers have been installed, rather than relying on a floor-covering roll’s nominal width.
Reserve budget for protection and access

Before ordering, compare spare connectors, return terms, and whether the system can be expanded safely.
